Faced with daunting task to overcome their opponents, Smart Gilas Team Pilipinas has once again proved their worth against their nemesis Al Jala'a of Syria, 85-80 and advances to the semifinals of 2011 FIBA-Asia Champions Cup Quarterfinals match. For, not only did their favorite team – Smart Gilas – win, but showed tremendous resilience to recover from a disappointing first quarter of an hour to beat Syrian League champions Al Jala’a 85-80 in the quarterfinals on Friday.
