Kuduro Kuduro   (or   kuduru ) is a type of music originally born in   Angola   in the 1980s.   Reinvented in Portugal, the genre gained international popularity. It is characterized as up-tempo, energetic, and danceable. Origins The roots of kuduro can be traced to the late 1980s when producers in   Luanda , Angola started mixing African percussion samples with simple   calypso   and   soca   rhythms to create a style of music then known as " batida ". European and American electronic music had begun appearing in the market, which attracted Angolan musicians and inspired them to incorporate their own musical styles. An Angolan MC,   Sebem , began   toasting   over this and is credited with starting the genre. The name itself is a word with a specific meaning to location in the   Kimbundu   language, which is native to the northern portion of Angola . Dance radio Dance radio is a format that consists of current and recent dance / electronic music . While the format is popular in Europe and Asia, it has yet to make an impact in North America, although there are several Top 40 and Rhythmic radio stations which include current Dance product in their play lists. As of July 2010, there were 6 stations (4 full-time and 2 part-time) on FM in various US markets. Dance radio is also present on secondary HD radio streams, satellite, cable and internet. In much of Europe there are national and local dance stations and it is a popular pirate radio format. History Most of Dance radio's origins can be traced to the early days of Disco in the late 1970s, when stations like WKTU and KIIS-FM made the format a staple on the airwaves. Computer DJ A   Computer DJ   is defined as a DJ who uses a computer or laptop to play   digital music , usually .wav or .mp3 encoded audio files, to a public crowd. As well as a laptop or computer,   MIDI controllers   are also used to provide a more tactile, and useful interface for control of DJ Software by providing physical controls similar to those of record decks or   CDJs   and   DJ mixers . External   Hard Disk Drives   and Audio Interfaces ( Sound Cards ) are also commonly utilized. By using a sound card with multiple stereo outputs, or two sound cards, a Computer DJ can use a conventional   DJ mixer   by routing one software deck out of one sound card into one channel of the mixer, and likewise for the other deck. Some DJ software packages allow a single stereo channel to be broken into two mono outputs which correspond to two player decks.
